Endangered Records

Marty presents the Endangered Sounds show reproducing the rare and obscure sounds of the 60s from his personal vynl collection which stretches even the archives of major broadcasting companies. Collecting records since the late 1970’s where his mother would get me a punk 45rpm single each week instead of pocket money.

The first half of the 1980’s was spent dodging school, heavily into punk rock and listening to John Peel and Andy Kershaw on BBC radio1, taping the obscure stuff they would play. I am also a huge fan of the pirate radio ships broadcasting from offshore in the 1960’s. The legendary Radio Caroline.

By the mid 1980’s I was discovering rare and unknown American garage band and psychedelic records from the 1960’s and to this day these records still remain my main focus for collecting. I also still collect punk as well as 1960/70’s soul and funk, soundtracks, 1950’s rock and roll, folk and jazz, so expect to hear a bit of all of this on the shows.

Aside from collecting records he is the founder member of the garage/psych band The Higher State.
lives in Glastonbury, always happy to have a chat about records.
